Hey yo! Have you missed me? No? That’s fine. To be fair, Golfstradamus hasn’t been any better than your garden variety bookie. That said, the PGA Tour is teeing it up at one of my favorite venues this week — Colonial Country Club — and sports betting is becoming legal!

To say things are looking up would be an understatement.

It’s been a while since I could hold my head up high — but fortunately, years and years of coming out on top has allowed me to rest on my laurels. Or Yannys. Which ever you see.

That said, vacations are nothing if they aren’t impermanent, so, alas, I’ve returned to make picks and make you all some money. I’ll admit — the view from the crystal brain has looked more like an Alka-Seltzer fog in the last few months. But — like the rest of the best, I’m back in the saddle and ready to win.

This week, the PGA Tour is in Texas for what feels like the 15th time this year. This time, the world’s best return to “Hogan’s Alley” and Colonial Country Club for the Fort Worth Invitational.

So — who has what it take to put their names next to Ben Hogan’s this week? Here’s a look at your can’t-miss, no-doubt, sure-fire, mortal locks for the Fort Worth Invitational:

Mortal Locks:

Jordan Spieth — Picking Jordan Spieth is getting redundant, I know — but I like being right. And let’s face it — few players are as good at making degenerates like us good than Jordan Spieth is. Despite a down week in Dallas, Spieth is looking to bounce back in Fort Worth. At Colonial, Spieth has two wins and a runner-up in his last three starts. He’s not gonna put your kids through college at 8/1, but he’s as sure a thing as there is.

Jimmy Walker — Speaking of winning Texans, welcome back to gambling relevance — Jimmy Walker! After battling the effects of Lyme disease the last two years, Walker has finally been showing the game that has won him six PGA Tour events — including the 2016 PGA Championship. Now that he’s playing well, we can all start ponying up bucks on our favorite golfing nerd (sorry, Bryson) and have it pay off. Walker has put together five straight top-25 finishes — three of which have been top-1o’s — and that’s plenty of good juju in his corner. Most certainly enough to convince me to take the action on Walker at 25/1.

Bang for Your Buck:

Zach Johnson — The all-time money leader in this event isn’t who you’d expect — unless you expected it to be Zach Johnson. The 2010 and 2012 winner has made all 12 cuts in 12 starts at Colonial and has five top-10’s to go along with those wins. Johnson has begun to show some signs of life lately — and at 30/1, I’m going to bet he erupts this week in Texas.

Chesson Hadley — The track record at Colonial is not really big enough to warrant any opinion positive or negative about Chesson Hadley’s chances this week but the human string bean has been playing some really great golf — and that’s reason enough for me to give him a look this week in Fort Worth. At 40/1, there aren’t many better values on the board.

Fun Under $5:

Patton Kizzire — It’s hard to believe a guy who has already picked up two PGA Tour wins on the season is getting 150/1 money this week, but that’s the case with Patton Kizzire. After picking up the first two wins of his career in 2017-18, Kizzire has slid back just a little bit. He’s still playing some solid golf, so it’s hard to ignore him with the payday that would accompany a win. I wouldn’t bet the farm, but there’s certainly a great ROI out there if he can put it all together.

There you have it, friends and degenerates! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to book the party cruise for Monday’s celebration. Until next time, go and choose wisely…
