The Career Builder Challenge — the artist formerly known as the Bob Hope — is a perennial favorite among the tour’s best. I’m not sure why though, since it always seems to be a journeyman who runs into the best week of his life who wins this thing.

As most of the country is covered in a blanket of ice and snow and misery, the winner’s of the PGA Tour are in Hawaii, a land untouched by the despicable clutches of winter where you can swim with dolphins, paddle board with sea turtles, play golf in January and breath without your lungs feeling like your swallowing pieces of a broken razor blade.

Ahh yes. Pride does, in fact, come before the fall. And what a fall it was for ol’ No. 1.  A mere four days after pounding my chest and talking about who magnificent the 2017-’18 season was going for Golfstradamus, I laid an egg. And, worst of all, opted to pass on Patton Kizzire in favor of Beau Hossler. Yuck.

I’ve got to be honest with you — I was torn about last week’s result in Shanghai. On the one hands, I put money on Dustin Johnson and would have cashed a check had he not thrown up on his shoes on Sunday.

On the other hand, I also said I didn’t think he’d win — and he didn’t Which brings up the age old question — would you rather win? Or be right?

The world’s best golfers are headed to China this week for the WGC-HSBC Champions — the first big event of the PGA Tour’s wrap around schedule. With no cut and only 78 players teeing it up, it’s important to know your stuff.  Lucky for you, I know my stuff — and am here to share it with you!

Hello, friends and degenerates! It’s time for round two of the 2017-’18 PGA Tour season — and time to win some big money. Last week, we came close — closer than we have in a while when Tony Finau finished second at the Safeway Open. Now it’s time to capitalize.

Whether you’re a PGA Tour rookie, a journeyman pro or a degenerate wagerer like myself, it’s time to begin anew. Last year means nothing.
