This year, the U.S. Open returns to the site of it’s second playing — Shinnecock Hills Golf Club — and the story lines abound. Can we see another first time major winner? Will Phil Mickelson finish the career grand-slam? There’s more, but I’ve got to get to the casino and place these bets.

This year’s tilt will be the 118th in history and will take place at Shinnecock on Long Island. If the name sounds familiar to those casual fans, it’s for good reason. All you golf nerds like me already know the stories, the Opens, the triumph and the (relative) tragedy this legendary golf course has seen.

Like many of you, I’m already looking ahead to next week — but there is meaningful golf being played this week in Tennessee! The FedEx St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind in Memphis is always a favorite stop.

If you like birdies and you missed the Fort Worth Invitational last week then you missed out. Good Lord, was Colonial Country Club gettable — including on Sunday. Hey yo! Have you missed me? No? That’s fine. To be fair, Golfstradamus hasn’t been any better than your garden variety bookie. That said, the PGA Tour is teeing it up at one of my favorite venues this week — Colonial Country Club — and sports betting is becoming legal!

For the first time, the AT&T Byron Nelson was played at Trinity Forest Golf Club — a relatively new track just outside of Dallas. While the reviews were mixed, there’s no arguing that the course was eminently gettable all week long — and the aforementioned Wise got it!
